Welcome

Blue Door Press is an imprint for literary fiction, memoir, non-fiction and poetry: a book-loving community that we invite you to be part of.  As an alternative to mainstream publishing, we can take control of producing and marketing books we believe in. Blue Door Press was officially launched on 14 September 2016. We celebrated with a party at the Seven Dials Club, Covent Garden, in London. You can read about that celebration and meet the founding authors  in our News section, here.  You can read articles and reviews, here.

OF NOTE

Following our year of personal essays, in 2024 we’ll be posting each month on things that have caught our attention and maybe even lifted our spirits, or simply had us reaching for our notebooks. Jane Kirwan started the series in February  with her thoughts on re-reading a much admired novel. For March, Pamela Johnson, notes what you might do with old drafts of stories that didn’t work.

In 2023 we explored the personal essay form, with the constraint that the title had to begin with the word On … How far might we take this flexible form? That project is now complete but you can still read the results by clicking on PERSONAL ESSAYS in the main menu and scrolling back through a variety of thoughts on subjects as diverse as grandfathers, hollyhocks, picnics, London restaurants, the shifting perspective of personal histories.

Our 2021 project, the anthology of place ALTOGETHER ELSEWHERE, is now complete. But you can still travel to Dominica, Epping Forest, a Covid ward, South Africa, Kings CrossBudapest, Italy, Australia, Cuba, Lagos, Turin.

If you missed the launch, you can see the whole event on this video … hear readings by Sarah Salway, Mary Woodward and Steve Nii Kwashi Roberts – we published their pieces in January, February and March.

Book Groups, don’t forget, our authors are happy to be a guest at your book group, via skype or Zoom.  If you’re interested send us a message via the contacts page.
