Welcome

Now in its tenth year, Blue Door Press is an innovative response to the unsettled state of commercial publishing. As advances to authors dwindle and publishers run to keep up with how best to deliver content, the Society of Authors advises writers to take charge of their work. This co-publishing venture is a collective of published writers working with top editors and designers to navigate new technologies and produce high-quality, thought-provoking printed books and e-books. Blue Door Press was officially launched in September 2016. We celebrated with a party at the Seven Dials Club, Covent Garden, in London. You can read about the launch in the article, What Makes Blue Door Press special, here.

LATEST

Coming soon, Pamela Johnson’s latest book, The Mother Puzzle, a non-fiction narrative that uncovers her mother’s hidden past.

“A fascinating piece of family history, structured like a detective story” Blake Morrison

“The Mother Puzzle is a deeply moving memoir that reads like a compelling novel” Patrick Charnley

Barbara Bleiman’s, Snap! is the first book of children’s poetry for Blue Door Press. Published in 2025, it continues to have excellent reviews. Poems from Snap! are being selected for anthologies, websites and magazines. ‘Hey You, Poetry Person!’ features in the Poetry by Heart timeline. The National Poetry Library recently selected ‘Waddle Like a Penguin’ for ‘Poem of the Week’ for primary schools.

“… Have one in every classroom to be picked up and read whenever a moment of fun or thoughtfulness is to be had!” says a reviewer in the English Association’s forthcoming issue of English 4-11

Michael Rosen says, “What a joyous collection, full of observation, imagination and action. It’s packed to the brim with children’s voices, looking and playing as they do, while granny and grandad listen and play too. It’s a collection for joining in, having fun, and saying over and over again.”

Along with our books, we publish online, themed personal essays such as the anthology, Altogether Elsewhere. You can find the anthology here. The video of our Zoom offers a taster.
